🌿 Part 5: Managing the Transition — What Really Helps

Part 5 of the OMG Menopause at Work series — a practical, no-nonsense guide to feeling better and finding balance.

Here’s something you won’t hear often enough: you can manage menopause.

It’s not about “powering through.” It’s about understanding what’s happening and giving your body — and mind — what they need.

Let’s talk about what actually helps.

🩺 Medical & Clinical Support

First up, find the right doctor. Sadly, not all doctors are trained or up to date — so you may need to shop around. Look for a GP or specialist who’s trained in menopause care and can walk you through your treatment options.

That could include:

  • Hormone therapy (yes, it’s safe for most women — read Oestrogen Matters if you’re curious).
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for managing mood, sleep, and anxiety.
  • Evidence-based supplements (not “miracle teas”).

Get informed before you decide.

💪 Lifestyle Foundations

The basics still matter — more than ever.

  • Move: Exercise is your best hormonal ally.
  • Nourish: Eat real food. Protein, plants, and hydration are your new best friends.
  • Rest: Sleep is not optional; it’s medicinal.
  • Stress: Manage it mindfully. Meditation, walking, journaling — whatever works for you.

This isn’t about restriction; it’s about replenishment.

🤝 Support & Connection

Talk about it. With friends, colleagues, family. The more you speak, the less alone you feel.

Find your community — online groups, menopause cafés, coaches, mentors. You’ll be surprised how many women say, “OMG, me too.”

⚠️ A Word of Caution

Watch out for “Menowashing” — products or influencers promising quick fixes. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

💖 OMG Takeaway:
Menopause is manageable. You just need good information, practical support, and a little community magic.
